Witch doctors are feared as powerful beings in such tribes, and it is said if they point a bone at an individual, it is the same as a death sentence. The object of the bone pointing invariably dies.

No, it's because the person in question believes so unwaveringly in this tradition that they convince themselves they will die. They do so as a result.

Don't underestimate the power of psychological phenomena to manifest physically in extreme manners.
