Hackers, I believe. Like that guy who got 100,000 points in the first ten months after the Xbox 360 was released. His account was banned ages ago, though.

Actually, I'd be very surprised if there WEREN'T quite a few people whose genuinely legitimate gamer scores were wiped undeservingly. Kind of like the legal system, though, sometimes innocent people get blamed for things they don't do. :P

I read further on after following some links that it had something to do with illegitimate saves. I'm sure there's a way to unlock achievements multiple times. I was worried that it had something to do with "omg urs iz 2 high BAN'TSTICK'D" over a period of time. If it's got a set system that it's going after, I don't foresee as many problems as I might imagine (my experiences stem from Ruststorm and Warden on Diablo II).
