USB HORROR!

Ive had my computer for maybe 2 years not really long enough for things to horribly break in my mind lately my USB ports aren't working as well as when I first got my computer Mass storage devices seem to not like my comp. they'll be connected for a couple seconds then blam just disappear of the face of the computer any help is much appriciated.

Have you tried the devices in another computer to make sure they're not the ones which are damaged? To eliminate Windows causing it on your machine, you could also try downloading a Knoppix CD, burn it and boot from that and see if the drives work in that OS or not Seems odd all the USB ports would fail at once though, especially considering how many some PCs have

I know they work because they all work on my other computer and due to my comptuer newbness I can't figure out how to do what you said
