Have you tried the devices in another computer to make sure they're not the ones which are damaged? To eliminate Windows causing it on your machine, you could also try downloading a Knoppix CD, burn it and boot from that and see if the drives work in that OS or not Seems odd all the USB ports would fail at once though, especially considering how many some PCs have
