After spending a large portion of time editing Diablo II and other games, I've been considering simply creating my own (due to the limitations of these old, tired games being quite apparent now that I've delved into the files).

I would like to create a game that uses the classic hack n slash formula of such games as Gauntlet, Diablo, and others along this vein.

Does anyone happen to know of any such game creation engines?
