Allison is a much prettier variation on Alice and means noble.

Baby Names. Meaning of Names. Baby Name Origins. gives the impression that my middle name comes from a variant of Ida. I was given it after my great grandmother or so, and they're all dead so I can't really ask her about it xD

    What wikipedia said:
Kristian/Christian is a popular first name and surname in Northern Europe. The use of Kristian/Christian as a personal name derives from its use to describe followers of Christianity. "Christian" can also mean "Christ Believer". [1] Today in Europe—though not the United States—it is almost exclusively used as a male name, but in the 17th and 18th centuries it was a popular female first name in Scotland. Female versions of the name include Christine, Christina, Kristen, Kristin, and Kirsten. Holders of the name Christian may go by the nicknames or shortened forms "Chris," "Chrissy", "Xian" or "Kissa" (in Norwegian).

I personally think it's cool that my name is unisex.

My name means 'beloved' in Hebrew. My parents don't speak Hebrew, but the name was chosen for its aesthetics and for its traditionality.

My name is Indian, and my parents have said it means "as delicate as a rosebud"

    Wikipedia says this:

(SPOILER)"Komal is an ancient and traditional Indian and Pakistani name, most commonly taken to mean 'delicate' or 'gentle'. It is a popular female name as it contains many of the qualities Indian women so admire. This name is increasingly a unisexual name, with lots of boys using this name in recent years. However, its meaning and qualities remain typically feminine. Pureness, innocence, beauty, sweetness of nature and gentleness are a few of those qualities. The name Komal is also used in some parts of India to name a flower. The English counterpart of this flower is the Lily of the Valley. Komal is now more often used in northern or western parts of India, the name taken by remmenants of the Aryans. The name was brought over from Persia and is a popular Persian name also. In the discarded caste system of India, the name Komal was considered to be a high-class name used by the nobility - Kshatriyas and Brahmins. Komal is a very rare name. Only a few people have that name in the world except India."

    That's perfect for a pick-up line!

Pontus means "sea" in Greek. It's also the name of a pre-Olympian sea god.
