So far the game is pretty much living up to the hype for me. The banter between the cousins and the dialogue in the game in general is awesome. And there's such an amazing depth of to do, before I even went out and about in LC I watched 10 minutes of the TV which is utterly hilarious. The cover system is great, the hand to hand combat is great, hell just going out and getting drunk with Roman is great.

The only thing I have a problem with so far is the driving, the handling of cars seems to be poor and they've done some stupid thing whereby the camera is no longer locked behind the car as you drive, so when you try and turn a corner the camera keeps looking ahead in the direction you were previously going. If they have long failridden race missions or car chases (which they always do) I can see it becoming a massive, massive pain in the arse. It's just not a good thing.

That aside, everything is great. I am going to get some food now and then after i'm done I will be playing all night

To me, a game that scores 100 should only ever be a game that you feel nothing can really be added to. This is why I prefer a 10/10 scoring system. If you're using a 100/100 scoring system, it should be made up of various 10/10 scoring systems for sound, graphics, gameplay, etc.
The reason was that the next GTAs (Vice City and San Andreas equivalents) might be even better. Which is silly because nothing ever deserves a score at all then. You can only review something based on the time you review it in, not the future.

Khumar you are a failbag and I hope that you get cancer of the controller.

I for one already have a negative to it which is that it does not allow for splitscreen so both Danielle and I can play. So if they forgot about that aspect then there you go, a reason for at least -1 point! Danielle and I need to get a second Xbox 360 and TV someday. Or just wait for it to come out on PC...

Only GTA has never been a splitscreen game and doesn't need to start now. Multiplayer is only a nice bonus, but the game is essentially single player sandbox heaven.

Ah Suxley, it's not nice to throw around such terms when clearly the one without the hookups is the "failbag". Wallow in your own lack of GTAIV, Failmaster H.

I also wanted splitscreen but to be completely honest I can't see myself marking it down on that account. Given what it seems to do technically, I just don't see how splitscreen would be possible without majorly compromising things. Given how much they've put into XBL multiplayer, I can forgive them for this.

    Additionally:

Certainly, GTA IV has some issues, the most noticeable being the occasional flaw in the cover system, but there are many more pieces of GTA IV that are better than anything I've seen from a game in the past decade. We don't give 10s often -- just to games that merit the score.
(sotto voce Suikoden II will still be better)

Splitscreen would be ridiculous. Rendering one Liberty City is pushing it, let alone two. The only option would be what they had in San Andreas and while that was fun, playing against people online would lead to you being absolutely dicked.

Wait, are there still people who dont have this game? Nearly everyone (who were planning to buy it) at my college already has the game. I took a quick look with a couple of people after college. I didnt play but got to listen to some of the radio stations. Who is the guy hosting the Integrity radio station, we all agreed that we had heard his voice before but dont know where from. Oh and lol at Vladivostok FM, that was a surprise.

I haven't actually seen anyone here that's had it.

It could be that they're locked in their rooms, though.

Uh, I think that most people don't have it on account of it not being released until the 29th. Which is still 2 1/2 hours away. Now I'm not saying there aren't any Khumars around who have ways of violating the street date - because there most emphatically are - but most of us schlubs have little choice.

that seems to be the consensus among game critics and average joes who had copies from broken street dates, and of course pirates. Some even comment that it "impossibly exceeds expectations" but we'll have to see. In any case, tomorrow is going to be a remarkable day for gaming for many of us.

I was thinking about that, I guess they could but they'd have to make a limit to how far the two of you could go. In SA the only limit (I think) was the boundaries of the minigame. Basically whoever's with you at your spot would have to be working with you at all times instead of splitting up.

Or the fact that New Zealand and Australia are in completely different timezones and get it before everyone else.

Dreddz isn't in NZ or Aus though Doesn't matter now, it is out. I got it today, just as I was finishing setting up my shiny new HDTV

So yeah the hype wasn't wrong.

So I walk into a hospital and punch a nurse in the face. I swear to god I heard her nose break as blood sprayed. I love it.

I was also about to jack some guy's car but after pulling him out, I backed off for some reason. I can't remember what it was. Anyway, the guy chases after me trying to batter me, so I ran down the street where I saw two cop cars. Stood right in front of them, and let him punch me. Four cops immediately pile out, guns pointed at the other guy. He surrenders, is forced into the back of one of the police cars and they drive off. Meanwhile I go back and take his car.

    Look what I found!

(SPOILER)If you can find a helicopter, get near the Statue of Happiness(Liberty) and try to get it so you can eject onto the second story doors. There's a plaque that says "No Hidden Content Here" That's the door you need to go in. Then, climb the ladder and you can see a chained up heart, and it's still beating!
