    Default Rpg sales information 2005-2008

On VGChartz.com | you can see weekly sales charts for games, going back for years. I used this list to compile a list of rpg's that sold atleast 100,000 copies in their first week. I made one for 200,000 and one for 300,000 also. Please note that no rpg through all of 2005 sold atleast 100,000 copies in their first week, I checked!

    Code:

Look at that last list. It seems that all young kids are getting Pokemon and Kingdom Hearts games. If you look for the more hardcore rpg players it seems that Final Fantasy XII and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(Wii version) dominated rpg sales for the last 3.5 years!

In 2008, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is dominating all rpg's in sales, including Lost Odyssey. I don't think that Persona 3: Fes will sell super high though. Watch out for the first week sales for: Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon 2, Mass Effect(PC version), and Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures(PC Mmorpg).

For Fall 2008, watch out for high sales for Fallout 3, Fable 2, and White Knight Story. I think Fallout 3 will sell the highest and beat all rpg's in sales this year, and possibly in overall quality. What are your thoughts on this information?
Recently beaten: Alundra 1, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Currently playing: Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, Final Fantasy I
Will play next: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3(???)

While I really wouldn't take VGChartz' sales as gospel (nor would I include Zelda on this list), they still give you a decent idea of how much these games sell. To replace the 3 Zeldas, I'll submit 4 high-profile Japanese titles. I'll assume that you were only looking at the US sales, which is why Tactics PSP wasn't on the list.

According to VGChartz, 1st week sales in Japan:
    -FFTactics Advance 2 (DS): 153,388
    -FFCrystal Chronicles (DS): 196,120
-FFTactics War of the Lions (PSP): 165,901
    -Monster Hunter Freedon 2nd G (PSP): 857,429

As far as upcoming US sales of games go, I don't know. I don't know exactly how popular Fallout is. I expect Pokemon to be inexplainably popular and Tactics Advance 2 to do pretty good, I don't think White Knight story will be particularly successful in its first week, and Fallout is kind of a wildcard. Though spread out across 3 platforms it could do better.

Well, with so many people thinking Oblivion was great, and F3 being made by Bethesda on the same engine (Too much so in fact; I saw a Ghoul from F3 and at first I thought it was a zombie from TESIV), I'd say Fallout 3 could do pretty well.

Glad Mass Effect did well. It deserved to.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that Super Paper Mario and Pokemon Battle Revolution aren't either.

At least Pokemon Battle Revolution has the battles and character development based entirely on a system of numbers. That's good enough for me.

Fallout 3 will probably sell atleast 150,000 copies on it's first week for Xbox 360. Do you think it will be the top seller rpg this fall?

From those three,i'm interested only in White Knight but i'm sure it will sell far less than the other two.
I don't know but i feel White Knight Story doesn't get the promotion it deserves from Sony. It's been ages since we heard (or watched) anything about this game.

I have no idea what else is due out then, so I can't say. I reckon it has a shot at it though.
