I thought I would be able to attach documents or images so long as they fell under the acceptable size and format restrictions. But for some reason I can't. Is this a universal problem or just specific to me?

Nah, it happened to me too. I think it's related to the whole profile pic/avatar changing issue.

I can't upload either, but some people (rubah, warren for example) can - I'm speaking with Warren about it at the moment
