That is an absolutely ridiculous analogy, Miriel, and you know it. The situation for the US and Europe is nothing like crippling physical injuries.

How is it ridiculous? Americans bitch about gas prices because they are so high right now that it is hurting people financially. People outside of America are bitching about Americans bitching because they feel they have it worse. The analogy fits like a freakin' glove.

Just cause other people have it worse doesn't mean that Americans shouldn't be bitching. Like I said before, any way you cut it, things have gotten REALLY expensive for people to buy gas. This is just like when I bitched about how San Francisco has the most expensive real estate in the nation and how difficult it was to get decent home for a decent price and people came back with "blah blah, you can't bitch, housing is even MORE expensive in the UK!!!!"

Just cause other people have it more difficult doesn't automatically cancel out the difficulty of people who may have it slightly better. Ugh. Why can't people get that? I don't get why people always have to one up each other.

Uh... because when we're paying twice as much as you are, and have been for ages, and we're not starving because if it, it's hard to see how it can be difficult for you? This isn't one-upmanship. We're not saying "We have it worse so STFU". We're saying "We have it worse and we're perfectly fine so STFU".
