I think Italy is simultaneously the gayest and most homophobic country of all.

Austrailia is Officially Ranked the Gayest Country in the World

I will never look at an Australian in the same way, ever, ever again.

Conversely, this only confirms what I already thought of the Australians to be true.

I like that the UK's got something of a tradition of honouring performers regardless of their sexuality. Sir Nigel Hawthorne and Sir Ian McKellen are just two of the openly gay men awarded knighthoods, and this kind of thing even happened back in the '80s.

Oh please. Everyone knows Spain is the gayest country ever. They were even mincing around the Spanish Inquisition like a bunch of nellies.

During the Italian Renaissance, it was occasionally quite fashionable for guys to have boyfriends. The trend continued for some time, until the Pope got annoyed by it

Point being, Italy beats Spain in the early modern gay stakes

Though the Conservative government of the 80s wasn't terribly keen on it. What with Section 28 and all.

In all honesty, I don't mind it sometimes. I find the mannerisms to be very irritating at times, but I like people based on how they act rather than their sexuality of course. For instance I don't like Graham Norton, but I happen to think Stephen Fry is fantastic.
Not my words Carol, the words of Top Gear magazine.
