Boy decapitated by roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia is ID'd | ajc.com
What a tragedy.
People don't realize how safe roller-coasters actually are. Typically if a fatality occurs, its at the own person's fault. I recall one woman had been on a roller-coaster in Indiana, stood up on the coaster and either fell off or jumped.
I've been in a couple of roller-coaster accidents, but neither fatal. I was on Raptor at Cedar Point and we were scaling the chain-lift. The chain failed, and anti-rollback devices (the things that go "clickclickclick") caught the train. The train slammed and I got a bit of a headache, but no one was really injured. We were given water until they had the lift working again. Then after the ride, our train was escorted to another coaster, front of the line.
