Is this going to be a 3D remake or just a straight port? It baffles me why Square go to so much effort to port and remake their games when they could be making brand new ones. I would much, much prefer it if Square made a brand new Chrono title instead of a port. Its not like im going to buy this or anything. Its just the same game I beat years ago after all.

Im surprised people arent angered by Square. Chrono Trigger should of been put on the VC. Putting it on the DS is a ploy by Square to charge you four times the amount they would on the VC.

If I didn't find myself having to force myself to keep playing Chrono Trigger once I hit Zeal, I'd agree with you entirely. As it stands, though, I wouldn't be buying either version. :P

Apparently it's a port with extras. And not only that, it's due out in America this holiday season!

The thing is that the key people who made the Chrono games don't work for Squenix anymore. Sure they could make some with new people, but I do recall Square saying some time ago that they wouldn't do it because it wouldn't have the 'heart' of the original games. Though times have changed since then, so I wouldn't put it past them once CTDS proves to be successful.

Absolutely agree. But this is another one of my 'you're right, but I understand why they do it' things. Simple fact: there are far more DSes out there than there are people with Wiis and internet access. Squenix isn't gonna put anything on there that they *know* will sell off of a shelf, unless it's something that they originally intended to put on there (like 'My Life as a King'). I highly doubt "King's Knight" (which is on the VC) would sell too well on a shelf today, no matter how prettied up it was.

As Roto pointed out though, it's not going to be a 'straight port', otherwise there really would be no good reason to not put it on the VC. VC games are untouched, presented exactly (with few exceptions) how they were when they were first released. So by adding random junk to the game, I can imagine them kind of having an 'oops, oh well we can't put this on virtual console now' attitude.

I'm glad they're not putting it in 3d like the FF remakes.

Wow, this is some amazing news. I'm more excited for this now than I am FFIVDS. I didn't think that could be possible.

I am most pleased. I'm not quite sure what I want from it to be honest. For them not to screw it up would be nice. So would some extra dungeons and character development. One thing I always liked about CT was how each character seemed to have their own specific time in the limelight both through the plot itself and through the sidequests. Despite not knowing what I want, I'm really looking forward to it.

A port of CC might be nice as well, so I can actually play that.

The DS is officially the best system of all time

I don't want it on the Virtual Console. I love being able to play these games on the go, wherever I want, like at work when I have a break.
