hey a while back i posted a topic about how much i hated ffta. i mean the game had some good points and it was nice cause it was portable and all, but i would like to know if i should buy the second one? Are the jobs better? quest? better story line?

I haven't really beaten the game.. but I love it! The storyline is.. well crap thus far, but I mean it isn't going to be like VII or IX, but the jobs? The jobs are quite nice! I am working my way through the Green mage on the viera, and trying to work on my Seeq! (New races as well).

But on a side note, the touch screen doesn't do much, but Vaan, Penelo, Al-Cid, and Mont Blanc are all playable

Well, the new one is better in, like, every possible way. But you still won't like it because you only play games so you can complain about them later with the most petty (and often incoherent) arguments anyone could ever think of.

Why exactly did you buy two copies of FFTA again?

because I liked fft:lion wars so i wanted to try ffta. i beat the game and it was ok but the thing that kinda bugged me was that i had completed 297 jobs and needed 3 more. i sold the game way back cause i needed some money. someoen told me my copy may have been messed up so i went and got it for like 12 dollars form the store. i played through it only to find myself in the same predicament. the game is not that bad and yes i admit i judge it harshly. i guess i was comparing it to closely to the original.

One way in which A2 is much better than FFTA is the quest list. Any quest which you see in the Pub, even if you don't start it, can be monitored on your quest report and the Pub "Other" list. It will tell you how many days left until it becomes availible again. So it makes it easier to check which quests you are missing, and when to check in to get them.

I think if you don't think that the laws in A2 are much better, you might be missing something. :P

how did they change the laws around? and i must admit in some battles those were pesky if you didn't have a law card. ex. no magic in a magic tourney! did they change em around?

Actually, the Mage Tourney law was that you couldn't use non-color magic. So you could use Blue, Black, Red, and White magic, but no other types.

But the laws in A2 work differently. They apply only to your clan, and they only affect a couple things. First, you have some abilities called "Clan Priveleges". You can pick one of these per battle, and they give you some minor boost (some boost attack damage, others evade chance, etc...). If you break the law, you lose the Privelege bonus. Also, when characters die in battle, they vanish from the battle instead of staying as a corpse. Raise magic or a Phoenix Down can be used to revive them, but you can only revive a character if you have not broken the law. And, finally, if you don't break the law, you will receive 3 items at the end of the battle. Usually one minor item, like a potion, one piece of loot, and one basic piece of equipment.

So, if you don't break the law, you get a few extra items, a little boost in your battle abilities, and can revive your fallen allies. But your allies won't be removed from battle the way they were in FFTA, and very few missions require you to follow the law.

It's also worth mentioning that the laws aren't completely random any more. You'll never have a law that prohibits you from harming Viera when your mark is a Viera.

Roto, I got that first thread linked closed!

Anyway, I don't like this one as much, but I haven't really played it either! >.< It seems like a good game. I need to sit down and just do it, but I'm so eagerly awaiting FFIVDS that I don't want to sit down and play this and then later be distracted.
