Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

great game, but i find myself getting stuck...a lot it's only in the later parts of the game though, but seeing as walkthroughs are no help whatsoever, i have to find my own way out

aaaaanyway, this isn't really a topic, but i have a question...this may have to be moved to the 'Help' forum, but i thought it belonged here...my question is: how do you get your friends/partners/fellow kirbys, what have you, to do what you want? for example: stand on a switch while you go through the door? all suck a massive concrete block? i find myself very frustrated at these almost useless beings when they don't do as i want is there a way to give them commands or what?

also, please don't just say 'they'll do it if you do it', because i was standing in front of a lava-fall thing trying to suck the big brick to block it and the others were just standing there pushing each other into the lava (none of them had abilities, before you ask)...so yeah, what do i do?!
