In Disc 4 I gained my gils by fighting grand dragons near Daguerro as they also give out a lot of EXP.
The Adamantoise give out more gil though, and can be found at Lanar Island and Uaho Island in the Forgotten Continent.
I don't think there's a big trick to gaining money in this game.
