You never lose the Treaty Blade but you lose the Sword of Kings when (SPOILER)Reddas uses it to destroy the Sun-Cryst.

I don't get why they're not very powerful either. My guess is that the blades are enchanted, which allows them to destroy/cut Nethicite, rather than their attack power.
