Default Come up with some weird and unusual but fun Materia combos here

Come up with some really fun/tricky/taxing/mayhem-inducing Materia combos and post them here, or share your favourite unusual ideas here.

I'll start by reposting what I said in a thread about the HP<->MP Materia then go over some other fun setups I once had...

High Summoner Vincent and the Final Aeon : HP<->MP, MP Plus, MP Plus, HP Plus, HP Plus, as many summons as can fit into the remaining slots

I once did this, maybe you could try it out: give Vincent every single summon that he can carry, then give him HP<->MP. He'll most likely end up with 999 HP, especially with a couple of MP Plus (HP<->MP also exchanges the effects of Materia that increase HP and MP), more than enough if he's in the back row and one of your party members has Cover, plus all his weapons are long range anyway, and summons don't lower attack power if you decide to have him attack physically. Also, try to give him equipment that boosts his elemental defenses so that he doesn't have to worry much about magic.

So why Vincent? Well, if you've the patience, you have him summon a lot during tougher fights, then when he's about running out of them (after all, who the hell bothers leveling them up normally?) his Limit should be charged. Use it, watch his HP grow (Death Gigas is recommended as it'll double his HP to 1998) and watch him continue to be useful. With the amount of robotic enemies and bosses in this game, his lightning elemental attacks will be extremely useful against them.
    Gambler : Mime-Command Counter
Bloody unpredictable and at times utterly chaotic. But hey, if you've played the game this far then you'll be that good that you won't be making any bad moves, only good ones, and any good move is worth making twice, right? When I was doing yet another "Job Class" playthrough, I gave this to Cait Sith along with all the status ailments.

It's Morphin Time! : Sneak Attack-Morph (as many as possible), Mega All
Equip this to Yuffie when she's holding the Conformer. Have the Sneak Attack-Morph pair in as many instances as humanly possible. Basically, if Yuffie doesn't successfully Morph everything on her first account, then she will keep trying until she runs out of Sneak Attacks. If you've got that Gambler setup on anyone (Yuffie included) then you really can't go wrong. An absolute godsend on the Gelnika when you're trying to max out all the stats but you're afraid of the annoying status ailments some enemies use... unless of course you've already used this setup against a few Master Tonberries for some Ribbons... bitchin'! It's a bit boring running around for a random encounter only for it to end before you press a button, but never mind.

    Mage Masher XL : Weapon : Contain-Added Effect, Mystify-Added Effect, Time-Added Effect, Seal-Added Effect
Barring any immunities, your physical attacks will be capable of inflicting Silence, Sleep, Slow, Stop, Confuse, Berserk and Petrify. Frankly I wish the Hades Materia could do this.

    I'd Like to Pre-order Battletoads : Weapon : Transform-Added Effect (vital), Mystify-Added Effect (optional), Poison-Added Effect (optional)
Potentially cripples enemies that would normally be strong. Earlier on in the game when this would be more useful, you'll probably only have one Added Effect Materia, therefore pairing it with Transform to severely weaken your enemies takes priority.

    Time Mage : Time-Added Effect (weapon), Time-All, Restore-All, Comet, Exit, Gravity-All, W-Magic, W-Item
A pretty straightforward setup that turns the character in question into my favourite Job Time-Added Effect in the weapon is just a nice additionata that makes the physical attacks inflict Slow or Stop, rendering them more useful since all that green Materia will weigh your strength down. Alas, putting that on your armour will make you immune to Haste! W-Magic and W-Item emulate the effect of the "Quick" spell (or whatever it's officially called) that's supposed to enable two actions per turn, and Restore-All gives you Regen. Sure it became White Magic in later games, but that's only because the "Time Magic" class was effectively phased out! Bastards! Anyone who's played FF5 will know that Regen started out as a Time spell! Well, not counting FuSoYa's strange command in FF4.

Utterly Humiliate Ruby Weapon : Double Cut (maxed ideally), Restore-Magic Counter, Revive-Final Attack, HP Plus and MP Plus if appropriate
I once beat Ruby with this setup. No, seriously. This setup will keep you alive long enough to toss about 12 Hero Drinks at the proposed solo party member, then you can chip away at its HP for about an hour. Each time you take a hit you'll restore your own HP, and each time you die you'll revive automatically (that shouldn't happen though). I didn't include a reliable way to restore MP because, well... Ruby Weapon eventually runs out when you fight like this. That's the "humiliate" part. By the time you reach this stage in the game you'll have a ton of Turbo Ethers stocked from the many enemies that drop them so just use those.

    Now you go.

    Smile heres some

I don't know why but I'm gonna overkill them - Knights of the round - sneak attack

This will basically kill any monster in the game except for emerald ruby and sefer sephiroth. It does get boring at times but handy if you really just wanna kick some butt. Doing this you'll start the battle with KOTR and then it will end without you having to do a thing.

I can do anything mode - Master magic - all (or mega all), Master command-hp absorb, Master summon-mpabsorb, enemy skill, double cut (if you haven't put on mega all) HP and MP plus, w-item, w-summon, w-magic.

With this kind of set up you really can't go wrong. Each time you do a basic attack you'll restore hp or mp (if you decide to have Master command-mpabsorb) when you use a summon you'll recieve some mp afterwards (note that usually you won't make as much as what it took you to cast it Except for KOTR) You can also use every command and magic. With the w-item you can select an item you have two of and then go to use the first then select the second one and before you use it hit cancel select cancel select over and over again until you have 99 of the item. With w-magic and w-summon you will be able to cast two at a time. This is a super bad @$$ combo.

I'll be back mode - Phoenix- final attack (strange how Phoenix has enix in it... like square enix

Using this will bring back your characters from Ko'ed up to 5 times.

One of my favorite combos is Hades-Added Effect in a weapon and then with slash-all. It's like Bad Breath enemy skill but with damage involved

I used this to make Vincent hit over the damage cap after a long time of kill farming- on Vincent: Sneak Attack<-->Steal(level 2+)X7 Mega All<-->Mime This killed everything in 1 shot and stole me some stuff in the process, and in a few days I could do millions of damage in 1 hit.

Are you saying Vincent can do over 9999 damage to one enemy?

I find that hard to believe seeing as I have played this game many times. Unless you are saying that with sneak attack and seven steal materias with mega-all it sneak attacked multiple times with 9,999 cumulative damage. Then I can see doing a lot of damage, idk about millions though...

That. As far as I remember, you can't break 9999 damage per one hit, and it would take just over 100 consecutive hits to do one 1,000,000 damage per command.

    It's not possible.

Vincent's attack can hit over the damage cap in one shot, if he has Death Penalty on. The way this ultimate weapon works is that it does more damage the more that it kills. So, after it reaches 9999 damage a hit, some people think it stops powering up. However, after I think it was 65,536 kills, it breaks the damage cap and does so much damage it could one shot Emerald.
