Agito coming to PSP

Chrono Trigger is the only Squenix port for DS I can think of. Squenix is putting original content on the DS, too. Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, The World Ends With You, remakes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games, Chocobo's Dungeon (I believe), some Dragon Quest spinoffs I can't remember (:P) and so on.

I didn't mean to say that the DS is getting no original content, I just think they port/remake a bit too many things on it though. Those 3D remakes are still cash-in's in my eyes.

It's seems too obvious for me that it would like the PS3 to fail.

I'm sure Square don't want any console to fail, how would their multi-platform titles sell well if the PS3 were dead? I'd imagine their PS3 support will greatly increase once the PS3 hits its stride, especially in Japan (ie, after FFXIII).

Here's a thought, maybe you can look past Square Enix for a second and see all the other great RPG's coming out. I think your giving Square a bit too much praise than is really due, FFXIII is the only thing worth waiting for by them anyway.

It's not that DS Games aren't profitable, it's just not profitable enought.
Square-Enix lost 28M$ in a month, the month after (FFVII:CC) they made 25M$ profits clear off a 275M$ revenue!

Most Square-Enix games are DS theses days, now they'll focus more on the PSP (It's what they said)
I can only assume that if Square-Enix is not making enought money, it's because they haven't released their Final Fantasy XIII main course and just working there way in inter-courses instead of console production, the PS2 was a gold mine for Square-Enix.

Well, it's new territory for SE, they haven't made any Xbox game, just like PlayStation, it's a risk. But back then Sony was publishing FFVII.

The entire reason Squenix makes so many ports is because they're incredibly cheap to produce and they're basically guaranteed to make a load of money.

Anyway, I think I'll still be getting a PSP at some point, more for Tactics & Crisis Core than for Agito (this might change once I actually know what Agito is about).

About Sony losing money on DS, I doubt it. If you look at their Financial Statements for 2007-2008, they made an operating income of 8800 million Yen on their Offline Games Division. Even after other expenses, their profit is around 8000 million Yen. And the vast majority of that Offline Game Division was DS.
