It's not that DS Games aren't profitable, it's just not profitable enought.
Square-Enix lost 28M$ in a month, the month after (FFVII:CC) they made 25M$ profits clear off a 275M$ revenue!

Most Square-Enix games are DS theses days, now they'll focus more on the PSP (It's what they said)
I can only assume that if Square-Enix is not making enought money, it's because they haven't released their Final Fantasy XIII main course and just working there way in inter-courses instead of console production, the PS2 was a gold mine for Square-Enix.

Well, it's new territory for SE, they haven't made any Xbox game, just like PlayStation, it's a risk. But back then Sony was publishing FFVII.

I meant more Nintendo than Wii. (But it's still more than PS3 games, that is at zero)

I'm sure people complaint back then, so why should now be different?
