--- The Cloud of Darkness looks rather voluptous.
Mr. Nomura: Although some people may have been surprised at seeing a different design than what was in the original game - since by design she didn't possess a lower body - we decided to base her on Mr. Amano's illustration this time around.
--- It seems that with the Onion Knight, he appears to take elements from multiple designs.
Mr. Nomura: That's correct. We started with the sprite as the base and then incorporated details from Amano and Ishii Koichi's illustrations.
--- And for the Ninja and Sage designs?
Mr. Nomura: Those were from the sprites. In FF3, Amano designed an enemy version of the Ninja that influenced the design. The Sage was based completely around the sprite, with the DS version used to fill in the details. Since FF3 didn't have as many set illustrations, there were a lot of troubles with the design. The coloring is a reference to the illustrations of Ishii which became the basis of the sprites.
--- Why were the Ninja and Sage jobs chosen?
Mr. Nomura: When we were planning "Dissidia" and first told to the staff that we had decided on the appearance of the Onion Knight, we agreed that he would preform a job change. I had the staff decide on which jobs.
--- For the Onion Knight, it was really cool to have chosen the commands of the EX burst.
Mr. Nomura: I think that we were very conscious about capturing some of the intensity of the original.
--- And with the new trailer, we had Kefka's arrival.
Mr. Nomura: In fact, although they appear in silhouette, all the characters appear and shine (smiles). We kept the members of FF4, FF5, and FF6 in the back though.
--- And there won't be anyone from FF11?
Mr. Nomura: I can't say anything yet.
--- As for Jecht being on the side of Chaos, we have thought "Ah, so Jecht is evil?" (smile)
Mr. Nomura: Unlike the side of Cosmos, the only attribute connecting the side of Chaos is that their different personal goals are only similar by chance. The members are simply members, and not all of their plans are necessarily evil. On the side of Cosmos though, they have a specific reason for seeking the crystals.
--- With the newest trailer, the characters are shown moving on something like a chess board as if they were game pieces. But we only got a glimpse at this system......
Mr. Nomura: That is from a portion of the game outside of the battles. So far, other than when it comes to the story portions, the staff decided that, "There shouldn't necessarily be a field like an RPG," and the system we came up with is like a chessboard.
--- So when you advance your piece forward, that will initiate an encounter?
Mr. Nomura: Various battles and events occur on the board. We'll explain the details to the public soon. I can tell you that the feeling of seeing the characters as "the pawns in the Gods' game" which was mentioned in the trailers, is primarily what the design is supposed to evoke.
