And, if you wanted the remake so you could play a /new/ game instead of the old FFVII, that beats the purpose of a /RE-make/. You should just play a new game.

No one has suggested to completely revamp everything about the old game, but new locations, clarifications, etc, etc, thats the entire point of a remake.
