    Blindside is perfect if you wanna escape the genre you're trying to not listen to~ but not escape it at the same time.

    They have alot of varied songs so it's alot of fresh listening for you.

    Examples:
    YouTube - Blindside-When I Remember - Sorrow filled
    YouTube - Blindside, Fell in Love with the Game - Normal =]
    YouTube - Blindside Silence - Acousticy

    and tonnes of other stuff, as crap as youtube is it will have to suffice for now.

    Haha, I forgot to put Neutral Milk Hotel on there. xD One of my favorite bands. Oh Comely is one of my favorite songs.

    I really liked Laura Marling's album. I liked Cocorosie okay! Gonna torrent more stuff soon.

    The only one I can really add, because people have already said a lot of what I would've recommended(which is a good thing) is Cursive. Cursive is a great band
    "geroeen, pulsa nyet, tolska tanee pre chem"
    "Beauty is a perception tainted by ego;
    Love is an extension of great emotion;
    Fear is the result of uncertainty;
    Sadness is a collection of misery."

    Some excellent recommendations so far (especially from rantzien, Breine and Ryth), so I'll make just one band recommendation:

    The Avalanches, and their album (their only album to date) Since I Left You. Still one of the best albums of this decade so far.
    "Excuse me Miss, do you like pineapple?"

    Blade Runner is the best soundtrack (and movie) ever made.

    Fans of the Blade Runner OST are guaranteed to like Tangerine Dream as well.

    I'm gonna use Rye's list as a chance for the shamelessly patriotic plugging of a couple of New Zealand bands. They aren't my favourites, but still pretty cool if you like that sort of thing.

    Minuit - for example, their song Fuji

    and

    Fur Partol who, despite their name, mercifully have nothing to do with furries.
