haha. well, we can debate about what exactly Sakaguchi ment by fantasy when he said he was making his "final" "fantasy" . . . which spawned the series, but one can assuredly assume he ment the "fantasy" genre, which does not mean "past" (agreed) but DOES involve a usually fictional and anacronistic European middle ages setting with magic and magical creatures.
