What do you name your characters (and vehicles)?

Lately I've been naming the main character after people from my RPG Maker 2003 game. (Eiutah)

Most of the time I will make up names on the spot and use them for my games later down the road (Zacht, Staven, Tiana, Tjara, etc...)

Of course there's the obvious ones...
Cloud=Spikey/Chocobutt/Zack
Barret= Mistah T
RedXIII= Nanaki
Vivi= Puck ("Puck, huh? Kinda funny name... anyway my name's Puck!")
Steiner= Rusty (R-R-RUSTY!? MY NAME IS SIR ADELBERT RUSTY!)
Garnet=Garnet (Hmmm secret identity.... ooh! I know! I'll use my REAL name!)

Sabin = Gay Joe, i like when they call him "Gay Joe of figaro"
Shadow= Ho (cos he'll do anything for the right price apparently)
Strago= Cherry (no reaon)

Cloud= Cloudy (just cos its a little more feminine)
Aeris= Almaz (cos i thought the line in that song was "And i watch holy" instead of " and i watch wholly"
Red XIII = Gregor, ????
Vincent= Vince, (cos i like how Yuffie and Cid call him Vince in doc, its cute)

Squall= Quistis
Rinoa= Quistis
so that it reads
"Quistis
Quistis! Seifer took Quistis"
