    square enix has said his real name (or at least his real code name) will be weather related too. what do you guys think it might be? i'm hoping that it's anything but tempest...i'm writing a story with a character named tempest, and i don't want anyone thinking i ripped them off...

    It could be anything really, I'm still trying to figure out why we haven't heard a name for him yet. He doesn't really look like a Tempest. Maybe Typhoon?

    The blonde haired guy. Maybe Storm. Then together they can be a lightning storm :rolleyes2

    I've never understood Square's obsession with weather.

    Tempestt is a girl's name. Haven't you ever watched The Cosby Show?

    Anyway, I think that his name is going to suck. They should call him Breeze or something really crappy. That would be fun.

    It's hard coming up with something cool and original and still relate it to weather. Raindrop?

    Maybe Gale, Storm, Rain, Rainjin(or was that Raijin?)...
    but definatly not Windy or Misty!

    Gale (various spellings) is an actual female name.

    Rain might not be too bad if they spelled it as Rayne.

    Is Squall an english word? 'Cause I hadn't heard it before FFVIII as a word for storm. It was always an indian term to me

    Maybe we should be looking at other languages for words regarding weather

    It is English, yes. It's not a commonly used term, though.
