If you think FFXII's graphics are good, look at this...

It's amazing how crappy the graphics from FFXII look when it's running on a PS2. This image is from running it on an emulator with Anti-aliasing, but even just the hair and skin textures are phenomenal. Is there ANY way to get the graphics this clear on the PS2? Cuz the framerate is just too slow (~15-20fps) to be able to play it on a PC.

[edit] hmm...even the FMV's look better on PC...the FMV's look smoother...may be from the texture filtering though...

This is damned purdy.

The only options I can recall for tweaking PS2 graphics only had effect on PSX games, iirc. I think you're out of luck, unless you update your PC or something.

That is indeed a lot smoother and shinier... until now, I had no idea Basch had a moustache before the FMV at the end of the game

2GB Kingston DDR2 800MHz Dual-Channel
ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
2x ASUS EN8800GTX 768MB
Windows XP Pro SP3

textures still look "washed out", data for much more detailed textures just isn't there.

no, most likely ffXII already makes good use of ps2 limits.

I remember VII and VIII's PC versions looking a lot prettier in the 3D department, but the 2D stuff was much grainier. Funny that.

Well the older models had not only PS2 hardware backwards compatibility, but upscaling and smoothing for the games as well. For PS1 games I had to work with the settings a little bit to get them real good, but I know for FFXII things looked pretty good. I didn't see any cutscenes, though.
