First off, make sure you are NOT still pressing up while you press the jump button. Press down, up (letting go of up), and then jump. If the up button is still held, Alucard will just do a regular jump. If you did it correctly, Alucard will do the super jump.

Also, if you want to do it in the air, it must be done after a double jump.
