Great time for Writer's Block

Basically, I have to write a short story based on our class novel. I have my idea all planned out, problem is, I have no idea about life for a housemaid. So, would any of you kind, intelligent people at EoFF care to share some information with me? What is a day in the life of a housemaid like?

I don't care what place/ time period this information is from, so long as I can get a good understanding. Thank you kindly, dear sirs and madams (and others...)

EDIT: I managed to complete a draft. Due to my laziness, I'm not going to edit it. So here's hoping I get a good mark =D
