    Grin Who Killed Amanda Palmer

Yessir, the pre-release online order running with the bulls started today, so I am now listening to my totally-legally-downloaded copy of the CD (my autographed package of swag will arrive in about a month).

So far it seems a definitely more accessible sound; but time will tell!

Okay eoff, time for rambling about AWAP and DD in general ^_^

    Awesome, that's who.

Maybe I'll get it. It's just not the same if it's not called the Dresden Dolls, though.

Well, the thread is about her CD and the woman herself. Why are you in here posting question marks if you didn't want an answer as to who she is and what's she's doing.

Daniel is really into her and the Dresden Dolls. He got to see them live in Florida not too long ago and meet them. I swear he'd leave me and have that woman's children if he could. I like the song Girl Anachronism but haven't given them much of a shot beyond that. The general music style isn't for me. I love Amanda's lyrics, though. I dunno if I'll give her solo stuff a glance or not. He'll probably make me.

I'm kind of looking forward to this. Especially with Neil Gaiman's contributions. I've only been a casual Dresden Dolls listener, but I may start paying more attention to them.

Wait what? Anything Neil Gaiman is involved in basically turns to gold, and I love Dresden Dolls anyway, so... win much?

You hold my heart in your manly hands I wanna feel the throb of your handsome gland. I wanna hold you tight like a newborn kitten, against my flesh like a cashmere mitten. Tickly tick, I'm makin' skin bump heaven and all the way down it's lookin' cleanly shaven. Prickety pricks, it's stubble on stubble I better slow down or I'm in real trouble. Want you, touch you, feel you, taste you! Knick knack whacky whack 'till I see the man stew. spin you around let me see that hole! I'm a tunnelin' in a like a short hair mole. Once I'm inside I'm gonna leave a trace, half in there and half on that face! One finger, two finger, there fingers gone! Mano a mano I love you John!

Grin Where the hell is Rye?

Yes, the collaboration of Neil Gaiman's storytelling with Kyle Cassidy's photography and Ben Folds' production and arrangements makes for a much "fuller" record than the usual raw Dresden Dolls fare. The introduction of an orchestra is magnificent.

Fans will not be disappointed; the dark lyrics are still present, particularly in Runs In The Family and Oasis, but there is definitely a more experimental side to this record; with What's the Use of Wond'rin? and I Google You reminiscent of The Sound of Music and Frank Sinatra, respectively.

Standout tracks: Blake Says, Astronaut, Oasis, Leeds United, Runs in the Family.

If/when my giant package of swag arrives I'll fill you in on the score. As more and more people start to illegally download music, musicians are going to have to start thinking about how to "add value" to music in order to convince people to spend money on it.

I just gave All in the Family a listen, and you're right, Calliope, it sounds a lot more "produced" than the Dresden Dolls' regular stuff.

Neil Gaiman's storytelling with Kyle Cassidy's photography and Ben Folds' production
This is a line up for pure awesome. I seriously can't see how this could go wrong at all. But I'm a little upset she sort of just totally peaced out on Brian Viglione, he was such a cutie~ I think they should have stayed as the Dresden Dolls and expanded their sound, because, to me, her solo stuff sounds just like the Dresden Dolls plus a lot more violins.
