    Default Why Revive threadses anyway?

Why is it that people occasionally revive old threads that are on like the 20th page of a forum? Who reads through that many pages of threads? And for a more universal topic, how deep into a forum such as General Chat do you go?

I stick to the first page, mostly. If it's not on the first page, it's not worth my time anyway.

    Oh, also...

    It'll go on forever.

One of the "Rules we don't have" from another forum I go to:

    Ever see this hypocritical rule?

    1) NEVER POST THE SAME TOPIC TWICE, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION YOU STUPID N00b!!!!!
    2) OMG IF YOU EVER POST IN A THREAD THAT HAS BEEN DEAD FOR MORE THAN A WEEK THEN YOU ARE A THREAD NECRO AND WILL BE BANNED!
It's like they WANT you to get in trouble. smurf that skullskullskullskull. Neither rule exists here. It can be far too much of a pain, sometimes, to find a thread that had a similar theme as yours when it's buried way in the back of the forum--especially if you're not sure it exists. Enough of a pain to discourage you from posting something that could have been cool. Furthermore, I don't know about anybody else, but I *like* seeing old threads. If I'm reading an old thread and have something interesting to say, then I'm going to smurfin' say it.
Yeah he's exaggerating but I basically agree.

I used to go to a forum like that. Pretty much every thread I made there was closed for either being a duplicate, spam, or advertisement.

Stick around for seven or so years and you won't have to revive old threads or read back pages and pages into a forum because you were here when it all happened.

    Yep.

I don't usually go past the first page.

I usually go to the second page at most.

I sometimes read very old threads in some Final Fantasy VIII sections (FF7 and FF8). I'm glad that old threads are still stored in the database, so hats off to EoFF!

On an unusual note, Big D, I'm enjoying the debate between you and Besimudo!

You'd think someone bright enough to use the search function would know to check the post dates!

We don't have the conflict he's describing here. If a thread is old enough to be "buried way in the back of the forum," then you're allowed to make a new one—supposed to, in fact.
