Avalanche simply supports the right for members to make threads. We do not expect equality of consequence; only equality of oppurtunity. Unlike the Shinra, who seek to mandate which threads can and cannot be made. It is Shinra who seeks the power and control and to mandate what is acceptable and what is not.
Also, to be quite frank, I'd rather live in a nice place instead of the dirty slums of Midgar. THAT IS WHERE WE WOULD BE IF THE SHINRA WERE TO GAIN POWER. DO YOU WANT THAT? DO YOU?!
