If anything, paying the fee to join ensures you a place above ground-- a nice place, with happy, friendly people.

Oh, and we still have pie.
1. I don't have a job, so I'd eventually have to leave.
2. The way the system works now, people get a nice place, and you can pay to get a better one.
3. Just as IRL, these happy, friendly people would act as if I don't exist.
4. As point 3 would happen, I'd become a sad, lonely person.
