I haven't tried to fix it yet as I am still in the process of basking in the hilarity of it. I'm interested in how to fix it but I am far more interested in what causes it. Any answers?

Did you try restarting your computer?

Can you copy/paste something new? Does a reboot fix it?
Sounds like malware/virus -- I think I heard clout or face mention a copy/paste malware that posts a link to bad pages. It could be the same but just harmless(er)

It's actually a small flash video that when you copy the small bit of text it puts that in your clipboard instead

but, as for your problem, you could try scan for virus/malware and removing it that way.
