Ok so I'm not being adventurous really, I'm Iceglow a female hume warrior who is currently in windhurst. I'm quite puzzled half the time by the controls ect and not sure what/where or how I do half the things I do. I have however figured out combat xD

You can feel free to ask me some questions if you're confused. Also, NPC's offer quite a bit of help, too. Try to find the NPC named Selele, who is near one of the gates to East Sarutabaruta in Port Windurst. That NPC helped me out quite a bit.

I really enjoyed what I've played of this once I figured out what I was doing :P However I got very little time now to play Perhaps early xmas eve or on boxing day I can fire it up again I'm just praying no more 9+ hour updates lol

I agree the initial updates suck, even if you get the 2008 Vana'diel Collection. I don't know what is up with that. I mean there's like 7 years full of updates, but you'd think they'd put that with the newer releases of the game.

they do of course... and the updates are not that many hours at all

pc and 360 is the fastest and ps2 is a little slower, some ppl had to reload whole game when miscrosoft made new front end on 360 and it took them 3 hours from beginning to end

I'm not even kidding Tebian it took myself and Rye 9 hours and more before the game finished updating, both of us were on our PCs doing so and my net speeds generally don't slouch that much.

Yeah, I had to reinstall my FFXI a couple days ago too and the update takes 7 hours for me, so I just let it update while I slept :P

Interesting and I dont doubt it took so long but this is not norm these days based on what we all had to do lately cause of the 360 dashboard problems. I personally just did the PC one from the DVD edition and took a little over an hour to be online, but I did not have the WoTG part in there so add some time for that. The whole directory for the game is only 8 gig's and I bet you dont download half that so really not sure what the differences are to cause such massive time differences.

Nice to see so many active people in the main FF community that plays FFXI. The game has change a lot from the old days. I am from NA and I was so happy to see the EU back in the day. Should be interesting to see whats up with the new content packs that are coming out and will be download content only as far as SE said at the Fan Festival.

I've recently installed and updated. No WotG yet, but I'll get it. Also... I dunno if I want to be an Elvaan or a Taru?!!!!??? I'm gonna be taru-taru! but not a warrior this time... Although, he's so brave, the little taru-taru warrior.

i might wait until tomorrow to create a character...
