    Default Equipment "recipes"

Does anyone know if there are ways to deduce what items are needed for various equipment without trial and error or using a strategy guide? I know that rare items that some monsters drop are listed in their entry in enemy section of the clan guide, but what about the items and numbers of them you need to sell to acquire the goods?

The only way I know of is Gamefaqs

It seems though, that you can just sell loot as you get it, and as you accumulate and sell enough for a particular item/weapon/armour, it'll become available. Meaning, for instance, that you don't have to sell exactly 5 earth stones, 3 fire stones and 1 snakeskin at the same time in order to get whatever item that recipe would make. After selling say 10 earth stones and 7 fire stones, as soon as you sell that one snakeskin, the item will become available.

Other than, I have no idea how to figure out the recipes from in-game play, other than just selling all your loot.

Are you talking about what you buy in the Bazaar section?
Like if you sell this item and that, a new item will show up in the Bazaar?

If thats what you mean, its in the FFXII walkthrough, which I own.
I could type it up and send it to you if you wanted.
It shows which items turn into ______ after you've sold them, how many you need, what else needs to be sold, etc..

Yes, I'm referring to what you have to sell for certain items to show up.

I have the strategy guide as well and have checked out gamefaqs for faster ways of obtaining loot for the nicer items, like Tournsol. I was wondering if it's possible to figure these things out in-game or if you have to rely on blind luck and external guides to know what you have to sell.

    Blind luck sounds about right.

Although, is it in the Forgotten Grimoires? I havent bought them..ever, so I dont know. Maybe all the info is in there?

The Forgotten Grimoires aren't books in that sense. They contain Monographs (key items) which increase the type and amount of loot an enemy can drop.
