Johnny's a damn good survivor, really - he avoided the carnage at Nibelheim, then he (and his parents?) made it out of Sector 7 alive. He even went on to purchase a home, get married and settle down in Costa del Sol, before eventually returning to live in Edge and stalk Tifa earn an honest living as a cafe owner. Quite a "normal" life, compared to most of the game's cast...
