Verizon can suck it

About every thirty seconds or so, I get a notice that pops up (and inturrupts whatever I'm doing >_>) saying that it's connecting to Verizon Fios. A few seconds later another one will pop up saying it can't connect... even though I'm already connected and it's working fine. After it says I can't connect, I just hit cancel and my internet works absolutely perfect. The only time it doesn't work is when the first notice is up saying it's connecting to Fios. Any way to get this to stop?

How is your network set up? Are you connected to the FiOS router via USB directly from your computer? Or are you connected over ethernet? You really shouldn't be receiving pop-ups unless you installed verizon's software junk on your computer (which isn't required if you are running over ethernet and can be uninstalled in such a case.)

USB, and I don't know about the software since my mom insisted on setting up the computer herself ans she's even more computer illiterate than me.
