Huh, I thought quite the opposite. With the exception of cure (and possibly reflect for some battles) I found magic useless. Magic was actually required in the first game whereas in Kingdom Hearts 2 it's just an alternative to spamming the X Button.
I feel the same way. I just use all of their AP on pumping up Sora's attack, Goofy's defense, and Donald's magic. Then I generally let the others do what they want while I kick some ass with my friend adrenaline.
