Thread: Games that Kick Your Ass

I didn't have fun with Zelda II. I played it at my cousins' house and died more times than I could count on all of our fingers and toes together. v.v

There's this part in Xenogears, in the Tower of Something or Other, I think. You have to jump and seesaw and do three backflips counter-clockwise while wearing a tutu to get past the level. My mom had to get a memory card from a friend past that point. I was like.. 6 or 7 back then, so I'm sure it's easier now. My mom fails at platforming and was the only one playing it, so I just remember it being hard.

Megaman. The first one. They wanted me to die. The game developers -wanted- me to die. Arcade games are like that.

Illusion of Gaia. That game got CRAZY HARD. It was fine, maybe even a little easy (except for the first boss). Then you meet the lovely vampire couple Jack and Sylvana. They killed me so many times and then ate my save file after I finally beat them. ;-; I've only finished that game on an emu with cheats.

*cringe* Same here. I hate that game. The first part of that very level is fun, but that boss gets me down in 2 seconds flat, with me flailing and desperately trying to attack all the way down.
"I hate Bambi. Because of that stupid movie, the Cowards has been crying since last week! I'm going to kill him to shut him up if he keeps on with it."

Really? I've never had too much trouble with that game. Sure I tend to die once or twice per boss, but I've never been stuck for too long. *shrug*
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

I'm bad at that one boss fight. The rest of that game I can blow through with no loss of life at all. Just those two! *rage-fists*

I gave up on this game after the apples started falling up. smurf THAT.

I'm saddened that Xenogears and Legaia and Shining Force made it on this list lol

Finding games with purposeful and respectful difficulty is hard these days. Ninja Gaiden tried, and fairly well succeeded. Most difficulties these days are from horrible programming. One game that I hate recently due to its wonky programming is Castlevania X Chronicles on PSP. It plays as crap-tastic as the original Castlevania on NES

NES games were mostly all hard though...

Well Xenogears did have that one boss fight that irritates everyone I know who played it... Anyone else remember when you finally got to battle Miang?

Just thought of another one that im really suprised no one has said.

Grandia 2: Valmars Eye... I remember my cousin useing a cheats disk so he could max out his characters and he still stuggled on this boss, I swear I never had so much trouble on a boss... first I tried to kill all of it and failing that 3 times I decided to go straight for the eye and only just beat it.

I guess I'm the only one here that has trouble with FFXII and Crono Trigger.

    Super Mario Bros.
    Rayman
The original Crash Bandicoot can be surprisingly hard at some points, but mostly if you're going for 100%.

XII has its moments, especially if you are consistent with the Mark Hunts and don't grind to god-hood. The game is actually quite challenging not to mention alot of the optional bosses are smurfing cheap...*cough*Zodiark*cough*

Though Chrono Trigger surprises me... Where did you have difficulty?

You made me remember that. Getting 100% percent in any of the Crash games is... frustrating at times. XD But I must get 100%!

The Twin Armors I presume, since almost everyone I know gets stuck on them.
Surprisingly not. It's the boss at around level 18/19. Can't remember his name, just that he was ridiculously impossible.

The boss inside of Lavos. As soon as I walk into that fight it's game over and when i try to level up by going into the Black Omen it's another game over, not as fast though. With XII it's the Penumbra that gets me. I can grind all my characters up three levels and cast every single enhancement on them, but all those bull frogs, and horses still ends up killing everyone and sometimes I can't run back up and heal myself because the monsters like to block the elevator.

If you have 100% up to Sephiroth, that means you should have Knights of the Round and Omnislash. That whiny trenchcoat-wearing mama's boy should be a piece of cake from there.
