what was Marie's opinion on it, maybe she wanted Setzer to take her. I'd go back for her, i mean shes no Daryll but shes alright and talented

Setzer is kind of a douche like that. He's pissed at the world for losing Daryl, and I believe his Opera antics is how he copes with loss.
When I lost his parent's in the Narshe fire of 1207, Setzer kidnapped Kefka and forced him to watch himself dancing around in nothing but a thong while "Rock Lobster" played on infinite loop.
This is why Kefka really went crazy.
One day when I played this scene I wondered it too.
I think he has a major crush for Maria. Maybe he was doing it for Empire. Maybe Maria was too anti-Empire or Gestahl wanted Maria to sing for his soldiers. Werent there some mention that Setzer worked for Empire? Not directly but at least he wasn´t against Empire in public.
And also where did real Maria disappear? Or was she in reality Siren and thats why she was unavailable for Opera.
That part always gives me the creeps because the "make you my wife" thing implies that he was going to rape her.
Setzer was going to have her teach him to sing Opera music, like she taught Celes in the hours leading up to the show.
Seriously, I wanna hear one story of a military general who can sing Opera.
