PS3 region question

Can I play NTSC PS2 games on my PS3 bought in Europe?

I have the first PS3 version that came out (40 gig?) the one that is backward compatible with most PS2 and PS1 games. Just thought I'd ask before I import Mega Man Anniversary Collection. :mog:
