No pot of noodles ever comes out exactly the same, but mostly, the results are quite appealing to the palate. I've only ever ruined food by being too heavy handed with strong flavors like pepper, and that happened by complete accident.
The best part of ramen and macaroni and cheese is that they're versatile and inexpensive. They're especially good when they're all you have, so it means you have to get creative. Just today, I took a box of macaroni and cheese, and threw in seasoning salt, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper flakes, a small shot of barbecue sauce, and parmesan cheese in with it, along with the cheese, butter, and milk, and stirred it all up. I sometimes add parsley flakes for color as well.

It sounds weird, but it was actually pretty awesome.

I cook for myself, and for several other of my friends when we get tired of eating at the galley, which is quite frequently.

I did get to cook for 13 (yes, unlucky number), for Christmas, and it turned out pretty well.
