    Angry iTunes

For some reason, half of my Coldplay songs will simply not play in iTunes. They play in Winamp just fine, though.

The last time something like this happened, an entire album minus one song got corrupted completely after a week or so. There seemed to be nothing about that one song that set it apart from the rest of the album, so I couldn't figure out what was going on.

WHAT DO I DO?! I don't wanna lose my music

Stop using limewire/downloading porn from bad sites.

    ...

EDIT: You could always remove the corrupt files then put them back, assuming you got them from a CD.

    For your information, I downloaded them legally the first time this happened! Geez, they were just fine twelve hours ago ;_;

    Also, limewire is lame.

    Did you change their location?

It's always my problem when this happens.

They're all mp3s, and I haven't changed their location. I'm not getting an error icon, either. I just double click and nothing happens. Like I just pressed Stop. I don't think it has anything to do with location, because I have them all sorted into folders according to album, and all of those are in the appropriate artist folder. Some songs will play, but then others in the same folder won't

    Will Windows Media play them?

Also trying deleting them from iTunes and replacing them.

Are they songs you purchased from iTunes with intact DRM? If so, perhaps the problem is a DRM issue. Apple puts quite a few restrictions on the songs you buy from them, such as how many devices can be used to play them, how many times they can be burnt onto a CD, etc. One thing I would check, is whether your computer is flagged as a registered device allowed to play your iTunes library. When I got my Macbook Pro and gave away my old desktop, one thing I made sure to do is deflag my desktop before wiping it and rebooting to factory settings. When I wanted to use my library on this computer, I had a few hoops to jump through, but the important part was flagging the computer as a registered device. I don't think this actually applies to you because you were able to play the songs not long ago, and it's not all of your songs. Still, it's worth a shot. Maybe someone messed with your iTunes options and accidently disallowed your computer. I don't know. I use iTunes for everything music and everything movie. I've never encountered this problem before.

The filenames are short for the most part, just the name of the song only. I don't think anyone's messed with my settings, because everything played fine yesterday, and since then whenever I left my computer I either shut it down or locked it, and my password is long and difficult to guess. I did notice that my brother plugged in his iPod to charge it and took it back during one of these times.

Hmm, I wonder if doing so made HIS songs the ones your computer is allowed to play. I don't know what happens if people with different accounts sync at the same computer. I thought the worst that could happen is that the songs that were on his ipod would be replaced with your library, but I have no means to try this out to see what happens. All I can think is that it is a permissions issue, but like I said, I really have no clue.

Maybe your iPod is smart and doesn't want to play it.

Have you tried re-ecoding the files in iTunes>?
You hold my heart in your manly hands I wanna feel the throb of your handsome gland. I wanna hold you tight like a newborn kitten, against my flesh like a cashmere mitten. Tickly tick, I'm makin' skin bump heaven and all the way down it's lookin' cleanly shaven. Prickety pricks, it's stubble on stubble I better slow down or I'm in real trouble. Want you, touch you, feel you, taste you! Knick knack whacky whack 'till I see the man stew. spin you around let me see that hole! I'm a tunnelin' in a like a short hair mole. Once I'm inside I'm gonna leave a trace, half in there and half on that face! One finger, two finger, there fingers gone! Mano a mano I love you John!

Nah, the only music we have in common is Apocalyptica, Filter, POD, and Incubus, and those files are all playing perfectly.

Er...how do I do that. I'm a newb at this stuff xD

Also, my iPod plays them fine (or I'm assuming it does because the last time this happened it did) because I added the songs when iTunes was still playing them.
