Thread: FFX Film?

  1. #1

    Default FFX Film?

    We all need to come together and convince square to make an adaptation of FFX. The greatest game ever should now be the greatest movie ever.

    I think FFX almost already is a movie, though! :mog: so many cut scenes.

    maybe a miniseries.... good cut off points, auron dragging tidus into sin, destruction of kilika, operation mehen, death of seymor or destruction of home, zanarkand revelations, defeat of sin, defeat of yu-yevon

    then ffx2 could be a fourparter i mean you dont even need chapter four

    It wouldn't make a terrible movie...I just wouldn't want it to go the way a lot of game-based movies do ;_;

    The story is already told beautifully through the game. Taking out all the things that make it a game and not a movie would make it a bit crap.

    Actually, I think SE said there was about 2-hours worth of CG.

    I agree! The last time they made a movie based on a Final Fantasy game the result was incredible! No wait, sorry I'm mistaken, Advent Children blew and tarnished the franchise beyond repair. FF X has already had a poor sequel and it's somehow survived it, why do a film?

    I'd say maybe a prequel but I would get someone else to make it as Square would cock it up no doubt.

    Movies based on video games have never been known for their quality. For some reason, it is much more difficult to adapt the story of a video game to fit into the movie format than it is to adapt the story of a book to fit into the movie format.

    This is especially true of live action adaptations of video games. If it were animated, it would have a much better chance of working as a film because animation allows for stylized characters much more than live action and the FF characters tend to be stylized.

    I think the fundamental difference between the mediums is that video games give you a certain amount of control over what happens, while in a movie or book you simply passively allow the story to unfold.

    AC felt like 75% action and 25% character interaction, and I think a more equal balance between the two would suit a FFX film better. I care as much what happens between the characters as what happens to them.

    One really awesome thing about having a movie, though, would be the action parts. You never ever see any fighting ever, it's all you!
