It's not really all that random a number. It is quite common.
1000 is a common number. I fail to see the logic behind 1024.
Look it up. It's a common computer number. 1024 is probably more common than 1000.

768 = 512+256 = 2<sup>9</sup>+2<sup>8</sup>
