Status spells are hardly useful in earlier FF games. Pre-FFXI I can only remember using Sleep in FFI and Meltdown in FFVIII with any regularity.

I think Cross-Slash is kinda actually useful in the start.
No time for "Dilly-Dallying" or "Shilly-Shallying."
Props go to the one and only, Proxy, for the signature.
They've rigged the game against you. I used toad often however.
Oh gods, why? ಥ_ಥ
I don't realy see the point of RPGs giving you the abillitity to use bad status changes - they never seam to work. I get that some of them double as the cure if you are affected (Toad for example), but I think they should have just thought of a cure and used that, and kept status changes as enemy only attacks.
I didn't bother much with status ailments in FFVII. I had a lot of fun junctioning 100 Pain to Stat-Atk in FFVIII through. FFT was the other game where I used status ailments a lot.
My friend Delzethin is currently running a GoFundMe account to pay for some extended medical troubles he's had. He's had chronic issues and lifetime troubles that have really crippled his career opportunities, and he's trying to get enough funding to get back to a stable medical situation. If you like his content, please support his GoFundMe, or even just contribute to his Patreon.
He can really use a hand with this, and any support you can offer is appreciated.
Status effects are good and fun.
However I just can't be bothered using them because:
1. They enemy is easy and i can kill them easy with atacks.
2. Its a boss and almost nothing works.
3. I cant be bothered.
This applies mainly in Disk 1.
However when i get bad breath i use it cuz it uses nearly all statuses. I also like to use aded effect with bio or stop.
I like the status spells. The best being the Enemy Skill Bad Breath. When I do the Special Battle Square I used that during every fight. I think it's a cocktail of poison, sleep, confuse and mini. Poison is almost too powerful in VII.
As for the word 'mini' I love it! Mainly because I have a Mystile equipped on every character so the word 'miss' usually means the enemies attack has failed.
