Man, it's like smeyer just totally ripped off The Last Vampire with this baby thing. It kinda makes me mad.
Haven't seen/read (whichever) The Last Vampire, but I kinda just think that SMeyer needed to have a book that, in spite of all the weirdness, violence and sexiness, ended up with a married couple and their baby.
Mind you, I am actually a fan of the books, though I do not love the fourth book. Babies ruin sex lives (no offense to the moms/dads on this board...but in books, it hurts the romance). I would however nerdily read a spinoff story with Nessie and Jacob. Don't know why. :rolleyes2

If I recall correctly, when Bella was injected with vampire venom her blood pretty much turned into a thick sludge, causing her incredible burning pain
And aside what is technically necrophilia, Edward also suggest that Bella should have an abortion, while simultaneously suggesting beastiality and polygamy with the werewolf. And also, Jacob shortly thereafter goes Michael Jackson on the baby. (Well, not quite. But close enough.) I think she was trying to see just how many social taboos she could kick in the teeth with one book.
Does this help at all?
(Though I must say, I found the ending extremely disappointing D=<)
