>>> I was messing arround with FFhackster and i made this thing.
this is my first rom-hack ever and probably the last, here is a list of all the
changes i made.
BTW, for those who dont know, if you want to play this you have to patch the ips file
to a normal ff1 rom, there are various programs to do this i used "Lunar IPS (LIPS)".
I tested this hack with RocknesX. some screens.
Character Classes:
I changed each class by a ff character, i needed to fill one more spot so i decided
to add Vaan in this. Most of the characters are warrior-mage types so they can
learn/equip various kind of magic/weapon/armor. Most of their stats strength/defense/etc
are altered too.
Fighter spot > Cecil upgrades to Cloud
Thief spot > Firion upgrades to Squall
Red Mage spot > Bartz upgrades to Vaan
Black Belt spot > Zidane upgrades to Tidus
White Mage spot > Light Warrior upgrades to Terra
Black Mage > Onion Kid upgrades to Shantotto
Weapon Shops:
You start with 3000 gil now.
In the weapon shops you`ll mainly find 3 kind of weapons
Swords that can be equiped by heavy warriors (cecil/cloud)
Daggers can be equipped only by Zidane
Swords that can be equiped by the rest of the characters.
Map and Text Editing:
Just some minor changes.
Ultimate Weapons:
I made a set of powerful weapons that will make things much easier
(they are like a bunch of Xcaliber) all of them can cast magic too, you can find them
on certain treasure chests.
Ultima > cast FAST, can be equiped by Zidane. Tournesol > cast FAST, can be equiped by Bartz and Vaan. Blood Sword > cast CURE4, can be equiped by Firion and Onion Kid. Legend > cast HEAL3, can be equipped by Cecil. Wizard > cast WALL, can be equipped by Shantotto. Ragnarok > cast LIT3, can be equipped by Light Warrior and Terra. Brotherhood > cast ICE3, can be equiped by Tidus. Gunblade > cast FIRE4, can be equiped by Squall. Buster Sword > (the second most powerful in the game) cast CRACK, can be equiped by Cloud.
(Note: you have to get the Adamant to make this sword) Masamune > (the most powerful) cast NUCLEAR, can be equipped by everyone.
The Fiends/Bosses:
There are 10 different fiends/bosses that you have to beat now.
they are obviously the main FF villains.
Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Exdeath, Kefka, Sephiroth, Ultimecia,
Kuja, Jetch, and Gabranth.
These new fiends have a new set of magic/stats and lots of HP.
Sephiroth battle, this guy is the hardest to beat so i made this battle optional
you can encounter him as Warmech in the Sky Castle or you`ll eventually fight
him if you want to get the Masamune.
Other bosses,
I doubled the HP of Garland, Astos and Vampire. Chaos has more HP too.
Monsters:
To be able to make the 10 fiends i had to sacrifice some monsters graphics and
some battle graphics too, this leads to some buggy background graphics at some places.
Most of the monsters battles are available and all the monsters "AI"
still there but i had to re-use some graphics from other monsters to make everything work.
Well, I think I covered everything, i hope you like this hack since i struggled making it..
>>> Thanks man, FFhackster is still not flawless, and i had to fix so many bugs. it was a real pain to finish it..
a reminder, try to avoid to use savestates at Cardia and the Bahamut room.. maybe its nothing but I had some problems trying to reload in those places..
>>> I fixed a problem i had at temple of fiends here
the lute wasnt working..
I already updated the attachment, just patch a new ff rom and replace the older. this wont affect your saved game or save states.
if you already had a savestate in that place just go to the previous floor and and go back.
>>> Err, have you ever played a NES rom in your computer?..
whatever, first download that attachment, unzip it and then..
BTW, for those who dont know, if you want to play this you have to patch the ips file to a normal ff1 rom, there are various programs to do this i used "Lunar IPS (LIPS)".
I tested this hack with RocknesX. some screens.
>>> I wonder if anyone will ever beat this thing (without cheating).
I beat it and i got the masamune al level 35, i think is a bit harder than the original ff1 but is not that hard.
All I've ever done to FF1 is send up the dialogue into a parody and hack a Hastega spell into it, replacing one of the Black Wizard's LV8 instead death spells and making it possible for a Red Mage to use it. Just because.
Oh yeah, I used to have one where I changed the class-upgrade sprites to the ones from FF3 but that ROM died forever when my laptop's hard drive broke.
