Character Spotlight: Amarant Coral

He was an alright character. I used him most of the time cuz he was pretty strong (I'm more of a physical damage guy than magical). I didn't much like the fact that there wasn't too much to his storyline, but he's a character nevertheless so there's nothing I can do about it.

Oh? I read somewhere that Zidane framed him or something when he was a security guard, and he went bounty hunter to get revenge on him for it. Maybe I was wrong.

Did you read that on this site? There are quite a bit of fan-made novelizations here. It might have been something to add to his storyline.

When you visit Treno with Zidane for the Card Tournament you can get a ATE of Freya encountering Amarant and get the option to enquire which leds to another ATE where Amarent tells her how he was a security guard but got framed by Zidane who had just stolen something.

Now the going bounty hunter to get revenge is never stated. I just figured he wanted the action.

He needed more role in the story. After the brief events before he joins, he just stops being important. He wasn't the only one who needed to be expanded upon though.

I used him in one play-through, because I wanted a change of pace and I felt a bit cruel side-lining the same characters all the time.

I never actually used Armarant I usually just used Zidane, Vivi, Dagger, and Quina. But it's true that he needs more backstory and role in the game.

He needed more role in the story. After the brief events before he joins, he just stops being important.

There's also the whole Ipsen's Castle sequence. And even when he isn't at the story's forefront, he's always doing something in the background, like intimidating Gilgamesh or squaring off with Freya.

He's also nice and versatile in battle--a crazy tough guy, but not a bad healer. My final party is always Zidane, Freya, Quina, and Salamander.

Ugh, I can't wait for Eyeson Plays IX so I can go through it again. I completely forgot about the Ipsen's Castle sequence. Still, it would've been nice if he had more time in the spot light. Though I guess that goes against his personality.

Amarant, besides Zidane, was probably my favorite character. He was just so cooooool. ^^
